Campylobacter

Campylobacteriosis is the commonest form of bacterial gastroenteritis in Ireland. It is caused by a bacterium known as Campylobacter. To cause illness, the bacterium must be swallowed (generally through contamination of food or water). Campylobacter is a notifiable disease.
