Quarterly Reports on Invasive Pneumococcal Disease

Streptococcus pneumoniae, the causative organism for invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) is a notifiable disease in Ireland. IPD notification data are collated on the Computerised Infectious Disease Surveillance (CIDR) system. Enhanced surveillance of IPD notifications is undertaken by Departments of Public Health, particularly focusing on children and adolescents <15 years of age.
